Female Character Colour Scheme
For the female character I had decided to use primarily Blue, Cyan and Yellow.
The reason why I had chosen to use Blue to be the main colour for this character Is due to the fact that blue is the colour for serenity, focus and calmness to the character. This could be a contrast to the red colour for the character as red is a more active and simulating colour.
The reason why I had chosen to use Yellow is to bring some warmness to the character and to bring a tinge of optimism, intensity and hunger for the character. This colour is also attention seeking which helps to enable the player to concentrate on the character as well.
The reason why I choose Cyan is mainly due to the fact that it is an analogous colour to blue and it will blend will in the character to give the character more depth.
Male Character Colour scheme
The main colours I choose for the male character is red, green and brown. The reason why I choose Red for the main colour of this character is because red is a primary colour. It is simple, strong, stimulating, lively and friendly which is the main message that I want the character to conveyThe reason why I choose Green is because it is a it is a complimentary colour to the main colour which can help to bring contrast to the character and on top of that to introduce some coolness to the colour scheme as purely red is too warm and might be a little draining for the eyes. The reason why I choose Brown is because it is a colour for comfort, warmth and nature which helps to match green

Original Unused Characters
Why were these Characters not used?
Technical Issue: After finishing up on the characters, due to hardware issues it caused the motherboard and computer screen to be rendered un usable and on top of that I did not save this into an external hard drive.
Game Program issues: Even after receiving my laptop back and I was back to working on my characters again, I was asked to resize my characters to 64 by 64, which means that this characters would then look very weird in the game as they would look very fat and stubby. Thus I decided to change them into another art style.
Inspiration
My initial inspirations are cartoony clip art characters. This is mainly used due to the fact that I saw that it was cute and it seemed rather visually appealing. What I took away from these inspirations was the way that the characters were drawn, for example the heads are rather big and the proportions of their eyes are larger than realistic proportions. Their clothing is also very simplistic and does not have a lot of textures on them to make it easy for the eyes to see. The colours used are rather bright and cheery which makes it easy for the audience to behold
Sketches
Inspiration
As I went to look around for images that were 64X64 I came upon pixel art which seemed to fit the size requirements for the characters. On top of that I had learnt a little bit of pixel art during analog game design UT2 thus I had decided to take it on as well. What I took away from these inspirations were the type of hairstyles that the characters had and the way they drew the face. The way that they drew the face is in such a way that you can’t really see the nose or mouth on top of that they also use different shades, tones and tints of the pure colour consistently to show shadow and light.
